Balinese Beef Satay Skewers

About the Recipe

Tender beef chunks are marinated in a fragrant blend of garlic, lime, Kicap Manis, and Sambal Oelek, then grilled to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 500g Sirloin Beef, cut in to bite sized chunks

  • Beef Marinade:

    • 2 garlic cloves, minced

    • Zest and juice of 1 lime

    • 3 tbsp Malay Taste Kicap Manis

    • 1 tbsp Malay Taste Sambal Oelek

    • ½ thumb of ginger, minced

    • 1tsp brown sugar

  • Peanut Sauce:

    • 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter

    • 1-2 tbsp water

    • Juice of 1 lime

    • 2 tbsp Malay Taste Sambal Oelek

    • 1 garlic clove, minced

    • 1 tbsp Brown sugar

    • 1 birds eye chili, optional

  • peppers, cut into bite sized chunks

  • Bamboo or metal skewers

Garnish with freshly chopped coriander, peanuts or sliced chilli.

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine all the beef marinade ingredients and mix. Add the beef pieces to the bowl and mix thoroughly. Let the beef marinade for at least 1 hour or overnight in the fridge.



  2. Combine all the sauce ingredients in a small blender and mix until you have a smooth sauce. It the mixture is too thick, add a couple more tablespoons of water.



  3. Thread the beef onto your skewers with chopped peppers and preheat a grill to a medium to high heat. Cook the skewers until the beef is charred on either side. About 2-3 minutes per side.



  4. Place onto your serving plate and garnish with a drizzle of the peanut sauce.
