Used extensively in Malaysia, Sambal Oelek is a basic paste or sauce made by blending chillies. Sambal is used as a base or in Rempah (spice paste) for cooking. It can also be served as a condiment at the dinner table.
Suggested Uses:
Simply spread thinly over steak or fish (perfect for mackerel) before grilling, or mix with mayonnaise to make a delicious dip for cooked prawns. May also be added to any dish to give it the heat of chilli and the sour of cane vinegar. Use with caution as it is hot!
Ingredients: Water, dried chilli, cane vinegar, sugar, salt, modified corn starch.
